Talk to community members! Talk to your friends and neighbors about the importance of preserving the habitat, the view, the open space, the window into Claremont's history and the educational value. If you belong to any community groups, bring the issue up at the next meeting. Do some reading! Copies of the DEIR and the letters that were sent in are available upon request at City Hall for you to look at. Asking to see them would alert city staff to continuing public interest. Among the most useful to read are the ones from Larry Oglesby, the League of Women Voters, and the Department of Fish and Game. Write to the Courier Copies of letters to the City Council or Architectural Commission could be sent to Martin Weinberger at the Courier for publication. Writing a letter to the Courier is a good way to show community knowledge, express concern, increase awareness of the issue and keep it before the public. Letters can be addressed to the Editor, The Claremont Courier, 111 S. College Ave, Claremont, CA 91711. ____________________________

____________________________ Claremont Heritage Day: Sunday, May 23 from 1-4 pm in Memorial Park. Come learn about Claremont's Native American heritage. According to oral history, the ancient village of Torojoatgna was located across the area proposed for the KGI. Tours of the BFS will be given every Saturday at 9:30 am. Anyone who would like to come should call 621-6381 for details and to reserve a place. The Fabulous Fourth! The Friends are planning to enter the Fourth of July parade with a float or marching group or both. The Tongva will also have an entry in the parade. If any of you would like to help organize this or join in the fun, please let us know! We'd love to hear your ideas. Village Venture: We plan to have a booth at Village Venture, hopefully as a fundraiser. If you would like to help or have suggestions for what to sell, again, let us know.
